Friday 56: Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole

The Friday 56 is hosted by Storytime with Tanya and Friends:

Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
*Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

I recently realized I am now four (FOUR!!!) books behind in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. Since her next book in the series, Dreams of a Dark Warrior, is coming out in February, I figured now was a good time to catch up!

Without further ado, here's my Friday 56, this one's a little sassy:

She followed his gaze, flushing violently, plucking the fabric away from her hardened nipples. But he'd already seen her in the bathroom.
Whew! I'm only on page 82 so far but I'm liking it!!!

I just finished reading Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning and OMG it is hot! This excerpt is from Page 56, however, I chose not to use the 5th sentence but picked one with a bit more "spice":

"Bath?" Brian asked, looking up at her.
She cupped his cheek and leaned her forehead against his. "It'll wash off your song."
"We've got that one on paper. I'm hoping I'll need a blank slate to write a new one."

Seriously, I'm fanning myself just thinking about it!!!

Exciting news: I read on Jeaniene Frost's website yesterday that she's coming to New Orleans over Halloween weekend!!! She's coming for the Memnoch Resurrection Ball and is planning a signing, although she doesn't know the time or date yet. Anyone in the area planning to go? I'm going to ask her to sign Chapter 32!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm currently reading Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews:

William spun the pole and rammed it into the nightmarish mouth. Jaws locked on the wood, ripping it out of his hands. Round fish eyes fixed on him, expressionless and stupid.

I have to say, I'm quite a bit farther than page 56; I think this is going to be one of my favorite reads of this year, AND, I may have a new book boyfriend!

I'm currently reading Naked by Megan Hart. The 5th sentence is short so I'm doing the whole paragraph:

I shifted the plastic bags in my two fists and led the way up the stairs to my own door, unlocked it and pushed it open. "Thanks. You can put the box over there on the dresser at the foot of the steps."

The Friday 56 - Doublemint Edition

HAPPY FRIDAY! The Friday 56 is brought to you by Tanya and Friends:

Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.

I actually have two books sitting next to me today, one I'm in the middle of reading and one I haven't started yet:

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead:

Avery was beautiful. Stunning. Lissa was beautiful too, between that gorgeous hair and the jade green eyes that ran in her family. I thought she was a hundred times prettier than Avery, but beside theolder girl, Lissa felt kind of plain.

Okay, the 5th sentence is: Stunning. But really, that's kind of a rip-off! A one-word Friday 56? I don't think so! I've gotta tell you, I'm near the end and this book is great!

And your bonus 56 comes from Julia London's Highland Scandal:

She was flushed, but it had less to do with the gown than the image of him that would not leave her now, no matter how hard she tried to erase it.

Hmmm...sounds interesting!

I'm currently reading Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione, the third book in her Demonica series:
So much for not getting cocky. But hey, were-leopards couldn't change their spots, right?

I just started this book, so I have no idea what this sentence is about!!

The Friday 56

I saw this meme over at Sweet Vernal Zephyr and decided to play along:

A weekly meme hosted by Storytime with Tonya and Friends.* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.* Turn to page 56. * Find the fifth sentence.* Post that sentence along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.* Post a link along with your post back to this blog.* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

I am currently reading The Queen's Bastard by C.E. Murphy:

"Bitter thoughts on a midsummer morning did not bring on sudden illness, no matter how useful that illness might be to her. Dismayed nausea at a task interrupted did not leap from her frustration to poison a man's body.
It was not herself she had to convince."

(The last sentence is actually the 5th sentence, but it seemed like kind of a rip-off to just do that tiny sentence all by itself. )I hadn't been to the library in quite some time, and this one "fell off the shelf" and I decided to check it out (heh - I said "check it out". About a library book. Get it? Huh? Huh? ). Currently I'm struggling a bit with it, lots of names and places that I keep getting confused. BUT, it is an intersting story and I'm hoping my perserverence will pay off.
